Microorganism Destruction in Liquids:
Microorganisms in water are more safely, positively and economically destroyed by germicidal ultraviolet energy than by heat or chemical treatment – and normally with no taste nor odor change.

Because ultraviolet energy cannot penetrate solids, treatment of more turbid solutions which contain solids will normally result in only partial destruction of contained microorganisms.

• UV treatment of such solutions can at best be termed a “Control Treatment”, having intent to limit excessive growth in organisms. “Control Treatment” is applicable to brine solutions for cheese brining, liquified sugar, and resue waters for washing vegetables, etc.
• Such solutions can be recirculated continuously from the holding tank through the UV system and back with Safgard straining devices in the pipeline to remove large particles.
