More Information

Schlueter Safgard Externally Fed Rotary Drum Strainers:

Introduction and Design Elements:

  • Safgard Rotary Drum Strainer is an advancement in design and state of the art technology. Design engineered with a minimum of parts for high mechanical reliability and service life.
  • Economic benefits provide savings in product, time and labor.

Each RDS contains a cylindrical strainer drum, headbox, frame/chassis, solids discharge assembly and chute, CIP internal spray system, and drive system to rotate the strainer drum.

  • The strainer drum is constructed of helical wound stainless steel wedgewire.
  • This ensures a non-binding, drain free, self-cleaning surface easily cleaned in place for maximum sanitary operation.
  • The wedgewire strainer can be easily interchanged with alternate clearance strainers involving minimal mechanical adjustments.

Benefits:

  • Improved Product Recovery
  • Improved Liquid Recovery / Reuse
  • Cleanup Process Effluent
  • Remove Solids, Sludges, and Surface Debris
  • Improve Process Operation / Performance
  • Reduce Sewerage Requirements and Surcharges
  • Increased Production Efficiency

Operation:

Process or wastewater liquid is gravity-fed or pumped onto a slowly rotating wedgewire drum. Solids, sludges and scums larger than the wire spacings are retained on the drum surface and scraped off by a solids discharge blade.

The liquid filtrate cascades downward through the strainer, back-flushing the wire spacings.

Accessory Equipment is available for your complete system.

Rotary Drum Straining units can be furnished with other Schlueter Safgard products to provide complete separation, sanitation, recovery and disposal systems.
