Design and Engineering Features:

Safgard Rotary Drum Strainers are design engineered with a minimum of parts, as modular and compact designs for high mechanical reliability and service life requirements.

• Made with heavy-duty Type 304 stainless with 2B Finish which gives the best corrosion resistance and durability.
• Available in different models and sizes as well as altered exacting custom designs for a wide range of applications and conditions.
• Economic benefits provide cost and product savings, as well as time and labor savings.

Each RDS contains a cylindrical strainer drum, headbox, frame/chassis, solids discharge assembly and chute, CIP internal spray system, and drive system to rotate the strainer drum.

Strainer Drum Construction: of helical wound stainless steel wedgewire. This ensures a non-binding, drain free, self-cleaning surface easily cleaned in place for maximum sanitary operation.

• The wedgewire strainer can be easily interchanged with alternate clearance strainers involving minimal mechanical adjustments.
• Special flumes, transitions, solids, collection devices, etc., can be provided to make more complete separation systems.

Operation:

Process or wastewater liquid is gravity-fed or pumped onto a slowly rotating wedgewire drum. Solids, sludges and scums larger than the wire spacings are retained on the drum surface and scraped off by a solids discharge blade.

The liquid filtrate cascades downward through the strainer, back-flushing the wire spacings.
