Balance Tanks

Safgard Balance Tanks are a part of the long-standing quality and success in manufacturing Schlueter Company Application Tanks. Balance tanks are extremely common in dairy pasteurization and in beverage HTST applications. These tanks keep product at a constant level above the pump inlet and often have a level sensor to help maintain tank volume. As the pump draws more fluid from the tank, the tank level drops and level device allows the flow of additional fluid into the tank. Inlets are often located at the bottom of the tank so that liquid enters below the surface, eliminating splashing and product aeration. Also, air already present in the product will try to rise in the tank. Some deaeration will actually take place, which is a positive towards pump performance. Schlueter Application Tanks are made to help solve your needs with maximum efficiency – and sized to fit your exact application with sanitary designs to eliminate tank from collecting bacteria.

In addition to what is illustrated in Balance Tanks below, you will also take notice that tank details are built in to assure you the best generous interior and tank edge radius for easy flush cleaning, heavy construction materials that eliminate denting and the need for double-edging-all bacteria harbors, tubular legs formed to eliminate joints, and all seams are welded closed with all welds ground and polished. Type 304 or 316 Stainless steel is available as is #4 Finishes and No. 2B finishing plus glass shot blasting where appropriate.

Optional Features on Balance Tanks:

  • First, your choice of rectangular or cylindrical styling.
  • Raised Bridges such as 7 ½” or custom sized Raised Bridges typically with pinned hinged cover that locks in open position.
  • Covers having 7″ inspection ports or custom size inspection ports also very common or however small or large. One-piece lift off covers with Sanitary hinge frequent choice too. ½ Welded and ½ Pinned Hinged Cover another option.
  • Reinforced ring seals ¼” x 1″, welded around the top another common request.
  • Beyond raised bridges, we also make them in Straightwall designs (often then with Deep Cone bottoms of different sizes like 24″ Straightwall with 10.5″ deep cone or 39″ Straightwall with 6″ Deep Cone, etc.)
  • Regarding the draining and bottoms we can do wide varieties such as Sloped Bottoms with Built Pod Style Type Outlets, full cone bottom tanks, standard anti-vortex bottom tanks.
  • Spray Ball Model SB-3, 2.5″ Diam., 1.5″ Slip joint connection, with for example 360 Deg. Spray pattern, 40 GPM @ 25 PSI installed on a 1.5″ welded in drop tube with Tri-Clamp connection another possibility.
  • Legs are mainly 1 ½” Tubular type 304 Stainless or 2″ Tubular Stainless legs – both with adjustable feet and can be different lengths, 1 ½” and 2″ Schedule 40 Stainless Pipe Legs also available.
    • *For example: legs could be 7″, 10″ or 12″ from floor etc.
  • All fittings/connection are sanitary-design Tri-Clamp connections. We can add as many Tri-Clamp connections of whichever sizes you require and in exact locations you require. Most common are 1 ½” and 2″ Tri-Clamp connections, but they can be larger if needed.
  • Tri-Clamp inlet connections typical in top of tank for fill, liquid level control, spray balls, or Level Probes, Tri-clamp connections often in sidewalls for level sensors, etc., Tri-clamps in the Raised Bridges, as well as Tri-clamp connections Outlet connections in variety of places often near bottom, off the floor.
